• Open Office - almost as good as MS Office, and free. Great PDF / XML faciliies too. Available for Windows, Linux, and more..
• Firefox - It's fast. It works. It likes your CSS.
• Opera - It's even faster (maybe) and, err, works.
• Internet Explorer - most 'normal' people use it ok?

• TextPad - "it's just so damned good" - NickB, 2004.
• Quickzip - Windows users; open .tar and tar.bz files as well as .zip files and others
• Shorewall Firewall - Great Linux firewall. Very easy to set up and maintain.
• Fanurio - Time tracking and billing software for freelancers.
• winscp - scp and sFTP gui for windows]
• putty - A Free Telnet/SSH Client
